About the position

The Managing Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) at Save the Children is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and implementing DEIB strategies that position the organization as a leader in these initiatives. This role involves aligning DEIB efforts with strategic goals, providing thought leadership, and managing a dedicated DEIB team to foster an inclusive culture across the organization. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of DEIB practices and policies, while also overseeing compliance and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a cohesive DEIB strategy across the Agency with measurable goals.
  • Provide strategic consultation and guidance for DEIB initiatives across U.S. and international programs.
  • Lead and collaborate with internal stakeholders to advance DEIB objectives globally.
  • Integrate DEIB goals into all Agency processes to enhance alignment with organizational outcomes.
  • Build trusted partnerships with leaders and key stakeholders for effective DEIB strategy implementation.
  • Serve as a DEIB expert, advocating for an inclusive culture and addressing complex issues.
  • Work with the talent team to embed DEIB principles into hiring, development, and retention practices.
  • Develop and implement DEIB metrics and provide regular dashboard reports.
  • Regularly assess and refine policies and procedures with a DEIB perspective.
  • Act as the Agency spokesperson on DEIB in the absence of the Chief People & Equity Officer.
  • Champion Save the Children's affinity groups to amplify diverse voices and drive engagement.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the DEIB team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Oversee data collection for Affirmative Action and EEO-1 reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years in DEIB or relevant roles, with 8+ years leading DEIB initiatives in large, global organizations.
  • Experience successfully embedding DEIB into the culture of a mission-driven, global organization.
  • Skilled at advising senior leaders on DEIB strategies and leading change.
  • Experience managing DEIB teams, initiatives, and programs that support organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated respect for cultural differences in international contexts.
  • Proficient in DEIB metrics and analysis, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; effective communication across all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in regulatory reporting and compliance related to DEIB initiatives.
  • Familiarity with global DEIB trends and best practices.
