About the position

The Managing Director will lead engagements for Software & High-Tech clients and Private Equity investors, focusing on product/portfolio strategy, optimizing product management and engineering teams, and driving customer and revenue operations. This role involves partnering with C-level executives and private equity teams to deliver value creation engagements, both pre-transaction and post-close, while also contributing to business development and internal practice development in the software domain.

Responsibilities

  • Manage teams serving Software & High-Tech and Private Equity clients, demonstrating advisory capabilities with high-level client counterparts.
  • Lead fast-paced strategy & operations engagements for Private Equity and Corporate Strategic clients, evaluating market opportunities and their effects on margins and growth risks.
  • Engage with CPOs, CTOs, COO/CCOs, and CFOs around operational/technology and financial outcomes.
  • Play a key role in value creation within the Software & High-Tech sector, focusing on product portfolio strategy, margin expansion, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead large multi-disciplinary project teams to execute complex product transformation engagements for Software & High-Tech companies.
  • Lead internal and external offering development around product/portfolio strategy and margin expansion.
  • Develop data-driven methodologies and benchmarks for measuring performance for product management and engineering teams.
  • Enhance analysis and presentation frameworks used in Software & High-Tech advisory.
  • Participate in the performance management process and in recruiting top quality consultants.
  • Support Directors and Partners in identifying and shaping projects for new prospects and existing clients.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with key Tech Operating partners and client executives to expand account presence.
  • Organize and lead pursuit teams to scope, price, and develop pitch proposals for Software & High-Tech businesses and Private Equity Investors.
  • Contribute to external thought leadership around product and engineering management in the software industry community.
  • Create work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for potential engagements.
  • Participate in Software/Technology industry events and build a professional network.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15+ years of work experience, including 5+ years in client-facing management, technology, or strategy consulting to Software and/or high-tech clients.
  • Experience in an operational role within the Software & High-Tech sector or with a private equity firm, specifically in a product or engineering leadership role.
  • Experience leading complex transformation engagements with teams of 5-15 consultants.
  • Ability to engage with C-level executives and translate product investments to CFOs/CEOs.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality assurance experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in related Software & High-Tech sub-sectors such as Vertical ERPs, EdTech, or Cyber providers.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% for short-term engagements.
