About the position

The Managing Editor/Journalist at ColaDaily.com is responsible for overseeing daily news content, executing the overall strategy of the publication, and enhancing the brand's presence in the Midlands community. This role involves writing stories, managing freelancers, and providing broadcast updates to sister properties. The ideal candidate is a passionate and skilled writer with a strong understanding of local news and a commitment to delivering unbiased information.

Responsibilities

• Write daily news stories and features for ColaDaily.com.
• Execute the overall Cola Daily strategy and seek ways to grow the brand.
• Manage and schedule content daily, ensuring timely publication.
• Assign stories and photos to freelancers and other contributors.
• Oversee the operation of web and social media platforms.
• Provide broadcast news updates to sister properties, 94.3 The Dude and 93.1 The Lake.
• Collaborate with the team and accept editing suggestions.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing Cola Daily.
• Capture visual aspects of stories through photography and video.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a similar field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of AP style writing experience.
• Minimum 2 years of managing/editing experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Proficiency with technology and content management systems (CMS).
• Ability to write unbiased and informational content.
• Reliable transportation and access to the internet.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic graphic design and photography experience.
• Interest in continued learning in the digital news environment.
• Familiarity with the greater Midlands area.

Benefits

• Full-time position with a salary range of $45,000 - $48,000 per year.
