About the position

The Mandarin Bilingual Interpreter position at CyraCom involves performing skilled consecutive interpretation in various settings, including medical, legal, and social services. The role requires adherence to company protocols and policies, with a focus on confidentiality and ethical standards. The interpreter will work under direct supervision, with limited opportunities for independent decision-making, and is expected to continuously improve their language skills and subject matter knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provides meaning-for-meaning interpreting.
• Follows CyraCom's interpreter protocols as per training, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains confidentiality as per CyraCom Interpreter policies.
• Attends all required training for interpreters.
• Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge for various clients.
• Uses standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, copiers, and fax machines.
• Uses MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Edge.

Requirements

• Fluency in English and Mandarin.
• Skilled at communicating both orally and in writing in English and Mandarin.
• Basic understanding of linguistics and different cultures.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and exercise initiative within company policies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in medical, legal, or social services interpreting.
• Knowledge of additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Arabic.
