About the position

The Mandarin Translator position at LIS Solutions involves providing essential translation and interpretation services for the National Virtual Translation Center (NVTC), supporting the Intelligence Community and federal agencies. The role requires processing various document formats and media, ensuring accurate translations of technical and specialized content, and utilizing Human Language Technology tools as needed.

Responsibilities

• Process documents and media in various formats including hand-written, hard copy, digital text, audio, and video.
• Provide interpretation and language support to Human Language Technology (HLT) projects.
• Translate and transcribe a variety of technical topics including legal, business, military, scientific, and technical content.
• Access, receive, send, scan, and translate documents and audio/video contents electronically.
• Utilize HLT tools to process work assignments.

Requirements

• Must reside in the Washington, DC metro area and perform all work on-site.
• Professional level fluency in Mandarin and English (minimum ILR 3 in both languages).
• Ability to translate/transcribe a variety of technical topics including expository, formal and informal discourse, legal, business, public administration, historical, geographical, sociological, political, military, and scientific content.
• Thorough knowledge of term-specific vocabulary in various subject areas.
• Quality review and editing capabilities.
