About the position

The Manual QA Engineer role is a contingent position focused on ensuring the quality of the company's Worksheets product. The engineer will work closely with the full-stack Worksheets Engineering Team to develop and execute manual test cases, validate SQL queries, and collaborate with product managers and engineers to enhance testing strategies. This position emphasizes a proactive approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement in testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute manual test cases for the Worksheets product, covering both basic and advanced use cases.
  • Ensure accurate execution of SQL queries in Worksheets, validating outputs, performance, and error handling within different environments.
  • Document defects, track resolutions, and provide detailed reports to the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand requirements and develop effective testing strategies.
  • Participate in cross-team meetings to stay aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Perform general QA duties and mentor team members in quality-focused activities.
  • Use various techniques and skills to mitigate risks in the testing process.
  • Promote quality as a shared responsibility within the team.
  • Propose and implement more efficient testing procedures and suggest changes for project improvements.
  • Work closely with Developers and PMs on the implementation of applications.

Requirements

  • Experience in manual QA testing, including creating detailed test plans and test cases.
  • Skilled at integrating with a team to understand complex workflows.
  • Understanding of SQL, data workflows, and test automation fundamentals.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders to articulate testing needs.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in Snowflake, particularly with SQL worksheets.
  • Experience with UI testing automation tools.
  • Skilled in debugging and root cause analysis.
  • Experience working with TypeScript or Java.
  • Familiarity with performance testing and load testing.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.

Benefits

  • Compensation of up to $58.97/hr. (W2)
