About the position

Gpac is partnered with a fast-growing company searching for an Automation Engineer. This individual will spend about half of their time working directly on the floor in the plant, and the other half finding solutions to the identified improvements. The ideal candidate has had experience in Automation or Controls in a Manufacturing environment. The automation engineer will lead a team of automation techs to improve the existing processes, while identifying new processes to benefit the facility. This role is crucial in ensuring that the manufacturing processes are efficient, reliable, and continuously improving. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing current systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing new technologies to enhance productivity and reduce downtime. The position requires a hands-on approach, as the engineer will be actively involved in both the technical and operational aspects of the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly on the manufacturing floor to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead a team of automation technicians to enhance existing processes.
  • Develop and implement new automation solutions to benefit the facility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLCs and electrical systems.
  • Program and integrate robotic systems into the manufacturing process.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering program such as robotics, automation, mechanical, or manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of experience as an Automation or Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and programming of PLCs.
  • Experience programming robots.
  • Strong electrical system troubleshooting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with plastics manufacturing, including injection molding, blow molding, and/or cast films.
  • Experience integrating new robotics systems.
  • Experience with fast cycle times.
  • Motivated problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or Siemens.
