About the position

The Cost Accountant role at Pyrotek involves reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on material, labor, and other expenses to ensure accurate cost allocation for the company's products. This position requires collaboration with manufacturing, supply chain, and sales teams to provide relevant financial information for timely business decisions, ultimately driving increased profitability through continuous improvement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly reviews of financial statements and subsequent analyses.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information used to drive profitability decisions and actions.
  • Provide insight for business partners to fully understand and evaluate costs, variances, and applicable operating measures.
  • Provide training and support related to cost accounting principles, best practices, and the use of the ERP system.
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses and provide requested data and information to support decision making.
  • Monitor inventory transactions and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Coordinate with local management to prepare annual operating budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform periodic reviews and analyses of departmental manufacturing and purchase burden rates.
  • Utilize corporate resources and reporting systems for capital expenditure justification, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Engage and collaborate with various departments to foster continuous improvement for cost controls and inventory management.
  • Identify potential cost accounting challenges and coordinate issue resolution with applicable functional teams.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or related field, plus three (3) years of cost accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment and/or a global organization highly preferred.
  • Experience with OneStream Consolidation Software and Infor Visual Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong general accounting and financial analysis skills with a general understanding of US GAAP.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply internal policies and procedures consistently.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of cost accounting and ERP systems.
  • Ability to use information/data and various metrics to develop informed business cases.
  • Strong financial analytical capabilities for developing profitable product strategies.
  • Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
  • Courage to make and encourage others to make difficult decisions.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
