About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer 1 role at HII's Uncrewed Systems (UxS) division focuses on supporting continuous improvement and corrective action activities for production manufacturing processes. This position serves as a liaison between design and manufacturing, ensuring that processes are established and maintained to produce HII-UxS products with predictable results. The role involves designing manufacturing processes, developing solutions to manufacturing problems, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and update manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Develop comprehensive and effective solutions to manufacturing problems affecting quality or performance-based metrics.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
  • Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • 0 years experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with manufacturing best practices, Lean principles, Six Sigma, and 8D.
  • Strong applied troubleshooting skills and knowledge of continuous improvement tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and Solidworks, or other CAD software.
  • A growth mindset and enthusiastic attitude.
