The Manufacturing Engineer position at Allison Transmission is a critical role focused on developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods that align with product specifications and quality standards. This position is essential for recommending and implementing improvements to production processes, methods, and controls, as well as coordinating the manufacturing launch for new or revised products. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the design and/or testing of tooling and equipment, as well as planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant. In this role, the engineer will assist in the development of manufacturing systems with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, particularly related to the quality and throughput capability of production equipment. The work is technical in nature, requiring the ability to make decisions within general practices and procedures, with supervision available for unusual situations. The engineer will direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes, study product requirements, and research, design, modify, and test manufacturing methods and equipment. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will apply their knowledge of product design fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials to assure product and process quality. This includes designing testing methods, testing finished products and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes. The role may also involve occasional instruction, training, and assignment of work to a small group of employees, as well as analyzing process elements for improved manufacturing capability and equipment deficiencies for manufacturing improvements. A physical presence in the workplace is essential, and the engineer will implement and actively support plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives, ensuring safety and good housekeeping standards are met.
