About the position

Hart Precision Machining is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer and Machinist who will lead engineering efforts while also being hands-on with CNC machining. This role involves developing machining strategies, optimizing production processes, and ensuring high-quality standards for precision machined parts. The ideal candidate will have advanced machining knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on continuous improvement and product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on part launch and production issue troubleshooting including program, fixture, tooling and/or process adjustments.
  • Design and champion the manufacture of machining fixtures.
  • Develop processing/PFEMA for new product launches and work with Quality Department to finalize control plans.
  • Assist in developing in-process check procedures, work instructions and tooling reviews with manufacturing.
  • Develop/Enhance the engineering department's data management process and structure.
  • Responsible for executing product launches to their timelines.
  • Participate in corrective action meetings to investigate root causes and implement engineering changes where needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by researching efficiency improvements and developing proposals; Includes the overseeing and implementation of improved procedures and new equipment installation.
  • Develop junior engineers and machinists to more effectively contribute to production and process improvement.
  • Educate operators to reduce production errors and downtime.

Requirements

  • Advanced machining knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing machining strategies including creating process drawings, work holding, and inspection methodologies for precision machined parts.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, G-Code, and M-Code.
  • Experience with machine setups for production runs and manual machining skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to create preventive maintenance plans and perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Skills in mechanical assembly and machine safety inspections.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CAM Software such as Mastercam or Autodesk Fusion 360.
