About the position

Boyd Corporation is a market leader and manufacturer of high-performance cooling products for use in the aerospace, military, alternative energy, and medical markets. Our continued growth has created an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills who can work on project teams on new business, develop new products and processes, and review drawings & documentation. In this highly visible position in our Engineering department, you will be responsible for generating and maintaining high-quality documentation, ensuring on-time delivery of new products through timely documentation release and factory floor support. You will lead the development of machining, brazing, welding, inspection, and other fixtures, working closely with subject matter experts in these areas to implement processes that meet customer requirements and cost/quality goals. Additionally, you will review internal drawing packages and conduct tolerance analyses, as well as customer documentation packages, and work directly with suppliers to process engineering change notices. Presenting new product manufacturing processes, including tooling, drawings, and work instructions, to senior engineers, managers, and customers at manufacturing process reviews will also be part of your role. You will conduct process failure analyses to determine root causes and corrective/preventive actions, control manufacturing costs by employing effective manufacturing methods and fixtures, and develop cost estimates for new product quotations. Furthermore, you will research, design, and develop more efficient workflows, methods, and equipment, including automation, new inspection methods, and new capital equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with subject matter experts in machining, brazing, heat treating and welding to implement processes that meet customer requirements and cost/quality goals.
  • Review internal drawing packages and conduct tolerance analyses.
  • Review customer documentation packages.
  • Work directly with suppliers.
  • Process engineering change notices.
  • Present new product manufacturing processes (tooling, drawings & work instructions) to senior engineers, managers, and customers at manufacturing process reviews.
  • Conduct process failure analyses to determine root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Control manufacturing costs by employing effective manufacturing methods and fixtures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in manufacturing engineering with direct experience in machining, brazing and/or TIG welding.
  • A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
