About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at STS Aerospace is responsible for improving and maintaining the first pass yield for specified parts and processes. This role involves driving continuous improvement initiatives, modifying processes, documenting standards and best practices, and onboarding/troubleshooting equipment. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet company goals and uphold product quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting quality issues throughout the production process including welding, brazing, nickel plating, cleaning, and borescope inspection.
  • Using continuous improvement and lean techniques to increase production efficiency, eliminate waste, and drive cost savings opportunities.
  • Supporting production staff with specification/technical knowledge, inspection techniques, and day-to-day troubleshooting efforts.
  • Documenting and standardizing processes via work instructions and operating instructions to increase efficiency and facilitate cross-training.
  • Onboarding equipment and tooling into the production process to support new products and improve process efficiency, ergonomics, or safety.
  • Communicating effectively with production employees, management staff, and cross-functional teams to align efforts with company goals.
  • Conducting classes and training to support continuous improvement efforts and product quality.
  • Managing operator qualifications to ensure production staff is qualified to perform given tasks.
  • Working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented team environment.
  • Reading, interpreting, and translating engineering drawings and customer specifications to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a related field.
  • Experience in blueprint reading and specification interpretation.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and loud manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, lift, walk, bend, and reach during shifts.
  • Comfortable wearing safety glasses.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Creative and innovative thinking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
