About the position

From surface vessels to sub-surface operations and unmanned platforms, we are revolutionizing the way naval missions are executed. Manufacturing Engineers work with the Value Stream Leaders to support manufacturing by writing work instructions, implementing industry best practices, conducting Job Safety and ergonomic analysis, and leading failure mode analysis activities. Additionally, Manufacturing Engineers are integral in developing line layouts and capacity analysis and are heavily involved with the development and implementation of improvements related to production flow, tooling, facilities, material and common design areas across products, and product performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing flow charts, work instructions, manufacturing BOM's, routings and MRP related activities
  • Manufacturing methods, tooling and equipment, and Lean Manufacturing
  • Manufacturing mainline floor support, including Failure Analysis from piece part through system analysis
  • Production support for Engineering development and transition to manufacturing
  • Assisting in bids, improving, and developing new products
  • Employ strong analytical skills; especially driving to root cause when completing failure analysis, determining best practice methodologies for manufacturing, and determining key process failure modes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2+ years of experience (internships, co-ops count)
  • Supervising manufacturing processes to ensure quality work is done in a safe, efficient manner
  • Ability to communicate with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labor required
  • Diagnosing problems in the production line and providing recommendations and training
  • Establishing safety procedures and protocols that prioritize worker well-being and minimize risk
  • Keeping abreast of advancements in engineering, production, and sharing knowledge with co-workers
  • Leading process improvement projects to meet business objectives and deliver quantifiable results using lean and six sigma methodologies
  • Identifying processes that need optimization and develop plans to improve them
  • Delivering timely implementation of process improvements
  • Knowledge of DMAIC, PFMEA, and other quality tools

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong skills in design analysis and design for manufacturing
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills
  • Must have strong computer skills and be especially proficient in MS Office
  • Proficient at understanding drawings and specifications of piece parts through system level
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in the manufacturing of electronic systems utilizing lean and six sigma processes.
