As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will provide the technical manufacturing liaison required for the production of high-quality products through all phases of production. You will act as a liaison between the Customer, Program Manager, Procurement, Assembly, and Quality Departments to promote an efficient and well-organized manufacturing operation. Your role will also involve providing support for test processes on the production floor and product startups, utilizing your knowledge and use of Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and RF Power Meters. You will lead continuous improvement reviews and provide product evaluations to improve the product assembly and testing yields. Analyzing test data for trends, coordinating the installation of production test equipment, and performing test equipment qualifications and characterization will be key responsibilities. You will also propose ideas for custom tooling for overall test process and equipment improvement, participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen continuous improvement activities, and assist in reviewing engineering design drawings and DFX reports prior to production release for testability. Your contributions will extend to developing product-specific test programs, reviewing and developing assembly drawings and work instructions, and working with cross-functional teams to address corrective actions. You will assist maintenance in developing preventative maintenance and calibration procedures, analyze line return information to understand and drive corrective action on test process issues, and comply with all company policies and procedures. Additionally, you will evaluate the requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures, and equipment required to support the manufacturing operations, participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and assist in monitoring daily production activities to promote efficiency of operation. In this role, you will also provide manufacturing assembly/test flow charts and layouts required to support the product flow and assembly sequence, coordinate with groups to provide technical product or specification drawing interpretations, and conduct any special manufacturing projects as directed by management. Your active participation in Lean projects and activities will be essential to the success of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Leads continuous improvement reviews and provides product evaluations to improve the product assembly and testing yields.
  • Analyze test data for trends, including mining data and interpreting results.
  • Coordinates the installation of production test equipment.
  • Performs test equipment qualifications and characterization.
  • Coordinates the installation of hardware and software updates as required.
  • Proposes ideas for custom tooling for overall test process and equipment improvement.
  • Participates in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen continuous improvement activities.
  • Assists in reviewing engineering design drawings and DFX reports prior to production release for testability.
  • Assists in developing product specific test programs.
  • Assists in reviewing and developing assembly drawings and work instructions prior to production release for product compatibility with state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques.
  • Works with cross functional teams to address corrective actions.
  • Assists maintenance in developing preventative maintenance and calibration procedures.
  • Analyzes line return information to understand and drive corrective action on test process issues.
  • Complies and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates the requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures, and equipment required to support the manufacturing operations.
  • Participates in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and takes an active role in the dispositioning of discrepant material and/or assemblies.
  • Participates in the Change Control Board (CCB) review of engineering change orders to ensure proposed design changes are producible and within manufacturing capabilities.
  • Assists in the monitoring of daily production activities and makes recommendations on material and/or labor reductions to promote efficiency of operation.
  • Assists in make/buy evaluations and makes recommendations on in-house vs. outside vendor manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provides manufacturing assembly/test flow charts required to support the product flow and/or assembly sequence.
  • Provides manufacturing assembly floor and equipment layouts required to promote an efficient flow of product through the various assembly states.
  • Coordinates with the groups and provides the technical product or specification drawing interpretations required for the design and fabrication of assembly tools, fixtures, and process methods instructions.
  • Conducts any special manufacturing projects, evaluations or surveys as directed by management.
  • Actively participates in Lean projects and activities including 6S, TPM, VSM, etc.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by management.
  • 3-5 years testing experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coding in Python and Data Mining are a plus.
