About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer I plays a crucial role in maximizing efficiency within the manufacturing process by analyzing equipment layout, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization. This position is responsible for coordinating the manufacturing launch of new or revised products, ensuring that all processes align with product specifications and quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineer I will assist in the research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow and assembly methods, while also maintaining detailed layouts of buildings and equipment. In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer I will coordinate the analysis and testing of various tools, machinery, and equipment to justify manufacturing methods. They will also be involved in product and process analysis aimed at cost reduction, quality improvement, and enhanced efficiency. The engineer will identify parts and tools necessary to achieve manufacturing goals and will be capable of performing tool design using computer-assisted design applications. Additionally, they will engage in the re-engineering of existing parts to improve manufacturability and troubleshoot tools in manufacturing to enhance quality and tool life. The Manufacturing Engineer I will represent manufacturing on cross-functional teams and will be expected to comply with all relevant regulations and standards, including ISO 14001. They will actively seek opportunities to improve health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance by establishing objectives, measuring progress, and reporting results. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and waste elimination initiatives within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
  • Coordinate and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Analyze and test various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Conduct product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Identify parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Perform tool design (fixtures) using computer-assisted design applications and programs.
  • Re-engineer existing parts as needed for improved manufacturability.
  • Troubleshoot tools in manufacturing for improved quality and tool life.
  • Represent manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
  • Comply with rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Attend all training provided and adhere to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering applications.
  • Proficient in Computer Assisted Design (CAD).
  • Strong technical math skills to synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
