About the position

Oceaneering International is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to join our team in Panama City, FL. This position plays a crucial role in performing manufacturing engineering functions associated with the manufacture of components, including machined, fabricated, and assembled parts. The primary responsibility of this role is to implement process improvements and best practices to ensure efficient and safe production of control umbilicals at our facility. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work under direct supervision to assist in planning and designing manufacturing processes within an industrial plant, contributing to the overall success of our operations. In this role, you will assist with the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations, which may include machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling. You will also be responsible for designing low to moderately complex structures, complete with Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Effective management of contractors with minimal supervision is expected, as well as collaboration with suppliers and internal/external customers to resolve technical and quality issues. Limited travel may be required for vendor visits, trade shows, off-site training, and sister site support. Responsibilities

  • Understand and practice Oceaneering's safety policies and procedures as they apply to the engineering principles utilized to conduct daily work and plant-wide safety initiatives.
  • Assist in planning and designing manufacturing processes in an industrial plant under direct supervision.
  • Assist with the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling.
  • Design low to moderately complex structures complete with FEA analysis.
  • Effectively manage contractors with minimal to no supervision.
  • Work with suppliers and internal/external customers and participate in cross-functional teams to resolve technical/quality issues.
  • Perform simple design work as required (jigs, tooling, 5S).
  • Limited travel may be required for vendor visits, trade shows, off-site training, and sister site support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (STEM Degree may be considered).
  • Experience in Auto-CAD or Solid-works.
  • Proficient in MS Office software; Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC badge.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated process improvement implementation is preferred.
  • Completed internship in a manufacturing facility.
  • CAD skills should be in Solid-works or Auto-CAD.
