The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will support the Electro-Optical Sensors and Precision Assembly Factory's leadership team through support of factory wide efforts and mentorship of both the New Product Integration and Product Triage and Troubleshoot Team. In this role, you will apply manufacturing engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to resolve constraints and improve process and product designs. You will leverage your knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results from new designs to recurring production. Your responsibilities will include designing, controlling, and improving the producibility of products through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team. You will lead and coordinate projects, efforts, and improvements across the extended value streams, acting as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the program. Additionally, you will mentor and train manufacturing engineers, identify and resolve constraints across the program, participate in corrective action investigations, and provide technical input and peer review to engineering design changes. Your role will also involve providing technical guidance and problem-solving support to factory engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Applying manufacturing engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to resolve constraints and improve process and product designs
  • Leveraging knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results from new designs to recurring production
  • Designing, controlling, and improving the producibility of products through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team
  • Leading and coordinating projects, efforts, and improvements across the extended value streams
  • Acting as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the program
  • Mentoring and training manufacturing engineers
  • Identifying and resolving constraints across the program
  • Participating in corrective action investigations
  • Providing technical input and peer review to engineering design changes
  • Providing technical guidance and problem-solving support to factory engineers

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Access (ATF) clearance
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to identify, reduce and eliminate cost, quality and schedule constraints through technical engagements
  • Understand and utilize factory and program performance data
  • Ability to work or lead in groups and cross functional teams
  • Experience interpreting and improving technical drawings
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience with MRP systems, including SAP
  • Experience with DOD financial reporting systems including EAC and EVMS processes
  • Experience teaching, training and/or mentoring manufacturing systems to junior engineers
  • Experience communicating technical information to different audiences
  • Current DOD Security Clearance
