Starkey is seeking an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer to join our global headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Continuation and Continuous Improvement initiatives for Starkey's global operations. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that product designs meet business goals by effectively implementing robust manufacturing processes and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. A strong understanding of product design and engineering is essential to facilitate changes in manufacturing processes that enhance efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, technical drive, persistence, and the ability to build strong teams focused on maintaining high-quality products. You will be tasked with addressing potential issues throughout all phases of product development, continuation, and end-of-life processes to support designs recognized as best-in-class in the hearing aid industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Continuation Engineering and CAPA projects and initiatives.
  • Continually improve the manufacturing processes of custom, standard, and accessory products.
  • Implement engineering solutions across Global Starkey Operations.
  • Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineering on product sustainment.
  • Participate in design reviews, establish manufacturing requirements, and coordinate needed testing or device builds.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to identify and implement ongoing quality improvements.
  • Represent Manufacturing Engineering as the voice of manufacturing to other development teams within R&D, Quality, and Site Engineering.
  • Act as the technical manufacturing lead on sustaining Engineering Projects.
  • Support and provide input for DFM improvements through Program/Project charters and system requirements specifications.
  • Deploy Site Validation efforts for legacy products into new regions.
  • Qualify and validate new and improved processes, fixtures, equipment, and technology for manufacturability.
  • Partner with Site Engineering to investigate global improvement opportunities through PFMEA RPN reduction, DMAIC efforts, Kaizen support, A3s, and Value Stream Mapping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Relevant experience in a product development and manufacturing environment required; hearing industry or medical device industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of new product development systems required.
  • Knowledge of process validation required.
  • Knowledge of relevant product development methods and best practices (i.e., DMAIC, PFMEA, Lean, DOE, etc.).
  • Experience solving advanced technical problems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
