About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer I will assist the Production Engineering Manager in supporting the high-volume production and assembly of small, intricate, precision electro-optic and electro-mechanical assemblies. Success in this role involves designing and refining processes, tools, and workflows to improve production efficiency and quality. The role fits into the broader company mission by ensuring the consistent manufacturing of high-quality optical reflex sights and related products.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Engineering Manager with all aspects of engineering for high-volume production and assembly of small precision assemblies, including optical and mechanical components.
  • Develop and implement complex assembly equipment, working closely with the Production Engineering Manager.
  • Design fixtures, assembly aids, and tooling for small precision components using CAD tools like SolidWorks.
  • Observe and analyze current assembly processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement, including optics alignment, soldering, and adhesive application workflows.
  • Develop and refine workflows and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve production consistency and quality.
  • Assist with minor process improvements and troubleshooting to gain hands-on experience with manufacturing techniques.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes, tooling designs, and quality checks to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Identify quality issues in assembly processes and propose effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with R&D to establish and implement Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles for new and existing products.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including R&D, supply chain, and quality assurance, to enhance processes and ensure product quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate or up to 1-2 years of industry-relevant experience (internship/co-op included) in a high-volume production and assembly environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, particularly for precision optical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Basic familiarity with adhesives, precision soldering, and modern assembly techniques (e.g., automated gluing equipment and vision machines).
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) for designing fixtures, assembly aids, and tooling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues in assembly processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to document processes and maintain compliance with production standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience or interest in firearms and shooting is a plus.
