In this role, you will provide direct engineering support to the Endo packaging manufacturing production lines in the Jabil Albuquerque Packaging Work Cell. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the manufacturing process complies with its specifications and that the product meets material specifications. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership for daily manufacturing operations, ensuring established metrics such as production, quality, scrap, and cycle time are met. Utilizing Process Excellence methodology and analytical problem-solving tools, you will identify and implement improvement projects aimed at reducing costs, eliminating scrap, improving quality, and minimizing cycle time. You will also establish specific manufacturing capability technology to support product and process transfers and new product introductions. Additionally, you will provide technical mentoring and support to engineering technicians and other less experienced manufacturing engineers on their assigned lines, covering topics such as quality, equipment maintenance and repair, machine programming, and optimization. Collaboration with other manufacturing engineers and validations engineers will be essential as you support, write, and execute validation documents and engineering studies that comply with applicable regulations and standards. You will utilize root cause analysis methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques to provide and implement robust corrective actions to quality, safety, and ergonomic risks detected in the manufacturing area. Furthermore, you will ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, environmental management responsibilities, and communicate business-related issues or opportunities to management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for daily manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure established metrics (Production, Quality, Scrap, and Cycle Time) are met.
  • Utilize Process Excellence methodology and analytical problem-solving tools to identify and implement improvement projects.
  • Establish specific manufacturing capability technology to support product and process transfers and new product introduction.
  • Provide technical expertise to support special projects, pilot operations, product and process improvements, and risk management actions.
  • Mentor and support engineering technicians and less experienced manufacturing engineers on quality, equipment maintenance, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to support, write, and execute validation documents and engineering studies.
  • Utilize root cause analysis methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Implement robust corrective actions to quality, safety, and ergonomic risks in the manufacturing area.
  • Support supplier evaluations for major services/products as needed.
  • Provide support to product inquiry investigations and develop corrective action plans to improve product reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, especially concerning end-user and patient safety.
  • Follow all company safety policies and environmental management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Engineering (B.S. or M.S.) degree required, Electrical or Mechanical preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, regulated industry preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) / International Organization for Standardization (ISO) knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Equipment Lifecycle Management preferred.
  • Significant understanding of automated manufacturing equipment and control systems preferred.
  • Strong hands-on electromechanical troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Solid equipment programming and networking abilities (PLC and/or PC) preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13849-1 & 2 Safety of Machinery; machine safety design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with UL508A; UL Standard for the construction, testing, and certification of Industrial Control Panels is a plus.
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR Part 1910 Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Standards.
  • Knowledge of process design and development, materials, standardization science, and applied statistics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of project management and cost analysis preferred.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet analysis, data management, project management, presentation graphics, engineering analysis, and statistical software.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Information Systems, including CMMS, SCADA, MES, ERP, Quality Systems, and Change Management Systems.
