About the position

At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world. As industries race to build increasingly intelligent systems, TE Industrial delivers extraordinary customer experiences to solve today's greatest connectivity challenges. Leveraging cross-industry innovation and proven engineering expertise, we're pushing the boundaries of efficiency and productivity—connecting power, data, and signal to enable more automated processes, intelligent building, smarter transportation, and cleaner energy. Our Kauffman Road plant in Landisville, PA is currently recruiting for a manufacturing engineer. The focus of this position will be to support metal forming, heat treating, and brazing operations used to manufacture electrical terminals and connectors. This is a hands-on position requiring mechanical abilities including machining, tool design, and fabrication. A key responsibility for this position is to identify and implement process improvements specific to quality, cycle time, machine reliability, capacity, and automation optimization. The expectation is to work closely with manufacturing personnel and lead various cross-functional teams concentrating on improving process efficiencies. Although not immediately required, the position will require a firm understanding of the lean tools associated with the Tyco Electronics Operating Advantage (TEOA). Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills will be key given the position requires the ability to handle multiple jobs simultaneously and interact with production personnel, site management team, and external suppliers. Additional responsibilities include implementing projects specific to cost savings, successfully demonstrated practices, and continuous improvement. You will identify and track critical tooling by evaluating performance metrics such as equipment utilization/downtime, scrap, and change over time. Creating and maintaining documentation for operating procedures and standard work documents will also be part of your role. You will design tooling and fixtures required to guarantee proper functionality and prolong longevity, develop cost estimates for tooling and applicable manufacturing processes, resolve quality issues as needed to address customer needs, and maintain project documentation including timelines and project status reports.
