About the position

As an Engineer II at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering team in Asheville, focusing on assembly operations for lab equipment. This role emphasizes collaboration with various teams to enhance manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality and efficiency while supporting new product development.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure product conformance, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Resolve production issues and partner with various teams to keep production running smoothly.
  • Identify gaps and develop corrective and preventive actions to improve overall efficiency.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects, applying Lean methodologies and PPI tools.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications and documentation.
  • Support the implementation of new products and contribute to the development of existing products.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of manufacturing experience in an ISO quality environment preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, with a focus on Mechanical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering, is preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in the field will also be considered.
  • Experience in fostering continuous improvement and driving lean processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop action plans for efficient production.
  • Proficiency in process auditing and Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent prioritization, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
