Daikin Applied is seeking a talented and eager Manufacturing Engineer II to join our team in Faribault South. Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this role will be responsible for advanced process support, contributing to new product development teams, and managing small projects. You will work collaboratively with the management team and other stakeholders to enhance manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations. In this role, you will utilize work measurement tools to analyze work samples, develop labor utilization standards, and estimate production times and staffing requirements. Your analytical skills will be crucial as you assess operational data, including workforce utilization and facility layout, applying lean manufacturing principles to optimize equipment and workspace effectiveness. You will actively participate in kaizen events, occasionally leading efforts to drive continuous improvement across the organization. Additionally, you will recommend methods to enhance worker effectiveness, safety, and quality while minimizing costs through job duty restructuring and workflow optimization. Collaboration with management will be key as you develop work instructions, training checklists, and matrices, while also partnering with the Safety Manager to improve safety procedures and ergonomics in manufacturing. Your role will also involve facilitating manufacturability in new product development by working closely with cross-functional design teams. You will define production processes, estimate costs, and provide manufacturing support to New Product Introduction (NPI) teams, including conducting PFMEA and process flow changes. Furthermore, you will be responsible for providing equipment design specifications, soliciting quotes, and recommending equipment purchases to enhance processes. You will assess capital equipment investment options, prepare funding requests for small and medium-sized capital projects, and oversee project completion. Lastly, you will lead efforts to ensure timely and accurate completion of job skill knowledge evaluations for hourly personnel, while being proficient in the use of lean tools such as root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, and 5S.
