About the position

Medtronic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manufacturing Engineer II to join our team in Billerica, Massachusetts. This role is pivotal in supporting the manufacturing of Affera's cardiac ablation generator products. As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will be responsible for sustaining and enhancing various production processes, which may include projects focused on capacity expansion, equipment design, yield improvement, and quality enhancement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Operations, Technicians, and external vendors, to ensure that manufacturing quality, capacity, and stability are continuously improved. This position requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and the development of effective solutions to meet production goals and objectives. In this role, you will be tasked with developing and implementing activities in production areas to meet quality and cost objectives. You will provide technical support to improve cycle time, yield, unit cost, and safety compliance of production processes. Daily responsibilities will include sustaining current production through day-to-day support, incorporating inspection and test requirements into production plans, and inspecting the performance of equipment and tools to ensure product quality. You will also be responsible for developing manufacturing processes that apply statistical process control techniques and designing assembly aids, fixtures, and tools. The ideal candidate will have experience managing multiple tasks, project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to collaborate effectively with team members to achieve results. Additionally, you will assume the role of technical project lead for complex assembly projects, ensuring that all processes and procedures comply with regulations. This is an in-person role with limited travel requirements, making it essential for candidates to be present at the Billerica facility.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Provides technical support to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes and products.
  • Sustain current production through day to day support.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspect performance of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
  • Design, develop, implement and qualify manufacturing assembly aids, fixtures, tools or equipment.
  • Handle multiple tasks concurrently and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment to achieve results.
  • Analyze data and utilize statistical tools in problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or highly regulated industry is preferred.
  • Proficient in all MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to self-prioritize workload.

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experienced designer of equipment, processes, and controls of complex assembly processes.
  • Experience with processes such as Quality Systems documentation protocols.
