About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer II at Lozier is a pivotal role that encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing manufacturing processes and ensuring the production of high-quality products. This position is designed for individuals who are not only problem solvers but also facilitators and innovators within the manufacturing environment. The Manufacturing Engineer II will be tasked with managing small to medium-sized projects that may have less clearly defined goals and will be responsible for providing concise project progress reports. This role requires a proactive approach to evaluating needs, analyzing options, and developing comprehensive plans to implement projects effectively within the designated time frames. In addition to project management, the Manufacturing Engineer II will assist and guide support personnel, including technicians and maintenance staff, in technical matters as needed. A significant part of the role involves developing, installing, and maintaining optimal processes for the safe and productive manufacture of quality products. This includes creating procedures and providing training on new processes, tools, and equipment, as well as defining preventative and predictive maintenance requirements. The engineer will also coordinate successful corrections to production problems using sound manufacturing engineering problem-solving techniques, and when necessary, develop alternate methods or processes to ensure continued production. The position requires regular attendance and punctuality, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others. The Manufacturing Engineer II will also engage in general industrial engineering functions as necessary, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful completion of small to medium-sized projects of medium complexity with less clearly defined goals and concise project progress reports.
  • Evaluates need, analyzes options, develops plan, develops Appropriation Request (AR) and manages implementation of project until completed within the allotted time frame.
  • Assists and guides support personnel (Technicians, Maintenance, Tool and Die, etc.) in technical matters as needed.
  • Develops, installs and maintains optimum processes for the safe manufacture of quality product in a productive manner.
  • Develops procedures and provides training on new processes, tools and equipment, including defining Preventative and Predictive Maintenance requirements and mechanical evaluation of processes and equipment.
  • Coordinates successful corrections to production problems using sound manufacturing engineering problem-solving techniques and practices.
  • Demonstrates regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
  • Ability to work and interact well with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or another related field, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year of applicable engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop plans for accomplishing assigned work and set priorities with a proper sense of urgency.
  • Ability to make timely decisions.
  • Average to above average PC skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of machine programming systems.
  • Knowledge of computer aided drafting/design software such as AutoCad and Inventor.
