About the position

The position involves working closely with the Manager or Director of Engineering and requires collaboration with various departments including Manufacturing, Programming, Planning, and Estimating. The primary focus is on improving manufacturing processes through the use of Solid Works and other drawing tools. The role demands a strong understanding of production and machine requirements essential for manufacturing components, as well as the ability to document processes and conduct time studies to demonstrate improvements achieved through process enhancement initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and utilizing software to offline program all pieces of fabrication equipment, such as lasers, press brakes, and turret punches. You will evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes based on quality criteria and customer requirements, employing continuous improvement practices to enhance product repeatability. Additionally, you will work with the operations team to assess existing customer jobs, processes, and workflows, identifying areas for potential improvements. You will also be tasked with creating processes and procedures that help the company meet or exceed budgetary and performance goals. This includes developing new process controls and maintaining work instructions to ensure that equipment is utilized correctly and that training is effective. Furthermore, you will assist in conducting root cause analysis for rejected parts and facilitate engineering change orders and quality documentation between the programming team and manufacturing processes. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as you will need to interact respectfully and professionally with the entire FVMT team while adhering to the FVMT Quality Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Solid Works and/or drawing background.
  • Document processes and utilize time studies to prove out and show improvements before and after a process improvement team.
  • Learn and use software to offline program all pcs of fabrication equipment, such as Laser, press brake, and turret punch.
  • Evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes based on quality criteria and customer requirements.
  • Use continuous improvement practices to make suitable improvements to product repeatability.
  • Understand production and machine requirements vital to manufacturing components.
  • Suggest and develop better workflow for projects by working with the responsible supervisor.
  • Develop new process control and maintain work instructions to ensure equipment is being utilized with proper training and repeatability.
  • Work with operations team members to evaluate existing customer jobs, processes, and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
  • Create processes and procedures to help the company meet or exceed budgetary and performance goals.
  • Assist with rejected parts reviews for root cause analysis of non-conformances and corrective action.
  • Communicate and problem solve in a reasonable, respectful, and professional manner with the entire FVMT team.
  • Adhere to FVMT Quality Management System.
  • Facilitate engineering change orders and quality documentation between FVMT programming team and manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • Experience with Solid Works or similar drawing software.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality criteria.
  • Ability to conduct time studies and document processes effectively.
  • Familiarity with offline programming of fabrication equipment such as lasers and press brakes.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement practices and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
