About the position

Saint-Gobain is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Engineer III to join our team. This role is pivotal in overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and processes for both new and existing products. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various engineering projects, including new product development, project management, manufacturing development, tooling and fixtures, and identifying new equipment and technologies. The Manufacturing Engineer III will utilize their experience and judgment to plan and support goals, employing creativity along with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills. In this position, you will work closely with the site team and production operators to establish stable and repeatable manufacturing processes. You will be tasked with solving real-time problems related to processing with equipment and tooling, implementing effective solutions that address both short-term and long-term challenges. Additionally, you will support the development of all internal drawings and process control documentation for new processes, including work instructions, inspection plans, and engineering prints. You will manage and lead manufacturing projects from contract receipt through delivery, ensuring that products are manufactured safely and in compliance with customer requirements. Effective communication with customers, sales, quality, operations, purchasing, and planning is essential to drive projects to completion within lead time and budget. You will also manage vendor relationships and expectations through direct contact, support new product industrialization and control procedures, and ensure that work is completed within the required time frame and budget. The role requires proficiency in software for designing, modifying, and detailing machining fixtures, tooling, and stamping tools, ensuring that designs meet customer specifications and are optimized for safety, manufacturability, assembly, and production use. Regulatory documentation for validation, CAPA, and procedures will also be part of your responsibilities, along with other projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Establish stable and repeatable manufacturing processes in collaboration with site team and production operators.
  • Solve real-time processing problems with equipment and tooling, implementing effective short and long-term solutions.
  • Support the development of internal drawings and process control documentation for new processes, including work instructions and inspection plans.
  • Manage and lead manufacturing projects from contract receipt through delivery, ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication with customers, sales, quality, operations, purchasing, and planning to drive projects to completion.
  • Manage vendor relationships and expectations through direct contact.
  • Support new product industrialization and control procedures, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion of work.
  • Design, modify, and detail machining fixtures, tooling, and stamping tools using required software, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Prepare regulatory documentation for validation, CAPA, and procedures.
  • Handle other projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar discipline is required.
  • 10+ years of work experience in an engineering capacity in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of project development and management.
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Understanding of lean principles and ability to implement improved processes.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced technical knowledge associated with a Master's Degree would be a plus.
