About the position

Navistar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Lead to join our team at our Manufacturing Facility in San Antonio, Texas! The Navistar San Antonio Manufacturing Plant is a benchmark facility that builds leading-edge commercial vehicles to meet the needs of today's - and tomorrow's - customers. By using proven engineering and leading technology and manufacturing principles, Navistar takes mobility and transport to a new level of impact. This facility has the flexibility to build Class 6-8 trucks along with Electric Vehicles that allow Navistar to add capacity to support anticipated industry growth. Using the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected manufacturing principles, Navistar's newest manufacturing facility will continue growing our market share gains. As a Manufacturing Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for evaluating processes, balancing lines, and leading projects for general assembly processes and tooling. You will design and select tools, lifting devices, and fixtures while analyzing operational issues. Your role will also involve providing feedback to R&D on Design for Assembly (DFA) requirements and design concept improvements. You will develop and contribute to internal Statements of Work (SOWs) for projects, maintain and develop Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and improve existing production lines and process productivity. Daily production support, new product launch support, creating labor standards, and fostering practical problem-solving activities will also be key components of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will maintain the layout for your assigned work area and undertake other activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing
  • OR Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience in product manufacturing
  • OR at least 7 years of experience in product manufacturing

Nice-to-haves

  • Auto or heavy truck manufacturing experience
  • Expertise with automotive tooling and equipment design and build
  • Able to lead and work in a matrix organization
  • Experience with 3D product viewer/Teamcenter
  • Experience with MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique)
  • Knowledge of Atlas Copco Tooling
  • Production exposure and Project commissioning
  • Exposure to error proofing concepts, ERP system and order management, stamping, AGVs
  • Experience with project leadership/management assignments taking one or more products from concept to manufacturing
  • Ability to plan, design and complete multiple projects
  • Ability to lead design reviews
  • Thorough knowledge of product development process
  • Knowledge of quality tools and their proper use
  • Experience with manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined
  • Ability to work in a team environment and with customers/suppliers
  • Computer utilization (i.e. project management, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, databases)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
