The Manufacturing Engineer will work in an advisory capacity to manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing departments using knowledge of methods and materials in specialized and general manufacturing to optimize cost and quality. This role is crucial in ensuring that manufacturing processes are efficient and effective, contributing to the overall success of the organization. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for conducting process analysis, which includes analyzing time and motion, methods, estimating, process engineering, and plant layout for assigned areas. This analysis is essential to ensure balanced methods and available capacity to meet customer demand. The engineer will implement factory manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials, considering their associated cost, time, ergonomics, quality, and quantity factors. Additionally, the engineer will assist in recommending changes, collect information for capital justifications, and participate in the design and development of new manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials to contribute to the assigned area's short- and long-term economic objectives. The role also involves writing and distributing manufacturing changes and associated operating work instructions to all affected personnel on the shop floor, as well as training operators on product and process changes. The Manufacturing Engineer will assist in the installation of new equipment and help train employees in the proper use of the equipment. Furthermore, the engineer will track submitted requisitions and purchase orders, and update routings and Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) with direction from the manager. Problem-solving is a key aspect of this role, as the engineer will produce, publish, and vault complete documentation for all tools, review engineering designs for estimating tool and manufacturing costs, and identify design changes to maximize economical manufacturing. The engineer will also prepare justifications and make recommendations for the procurement of new machines and equipment, assisting with installation and training employees in the proper use of the equipment.
