About the position

Lockheed Martin Space is at the forefront of the new space age, pioneering innovative solutions to some of the world's most challenging engineering problems. We are seeking a mid-career Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. This role is crucial as it involves designing manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts specifically for mechanical and electromechanical assemblies. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing manufacturability by representing manufacturing in peer reviews of engineering drawings. This position requires a proactive approach to writing production plans, inspecting and assessing defective hardware, and optimizing production flow to meet program deliverables. In this role, you will be expected to communicate effectively with shop floor personnel to implement process improvements and gain efficiencies. You will also support Production Operations by prioritizing work in process to ensure that program delivery schedules are met. Your responsibilities will include creating tool designs, analyzing shop performance, and collaborating with Quality Assurance to conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for any process-related defects. Additionally, you will support the development and production of weapon systems, ground support equipment, and satellite electronics boxes. This position may require travel and weekend or off-hour support to meet production schedules. Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Represent manufacturing in peer reviews of engineering drawings to enhance design for manufacturability.
  • Write production plans, inspect and assess defective hardware, and optimize production flow to meet program deliverables.
  • Communicate with shop floor personnel to implement process improvements and gain efficiencies.
  • Support Production Operations in prioritizing work in process to meet program delivery schedules.
  • Create tool designs, analyze shop performance, and support Quality Assurance in root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related defects.
  • Support development and production of weapon systems, ground support equipment, and satellite electronics boxes.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing or production experience.
  • Experience writing work instructions for complex mechanical and/or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings and analyzing design documentation.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and principles.
  • Experience with high-mix production operations.
  • Working understanding of mechanical assembly processes, methodologies, and equipment.
  • Experience developing rework instructions, repair directions, or flow alteration records.
  • Experience in SAP is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office.
  • Active Secret security clearance is desired.
