About the position

At Lucid, we are committed to leading the future of luxury electric vehicles, focusing on creating captivating designs that elevate the human experience. As a Manufacturing Engineer in the Powertrain department, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing control systems for our powertrain battery and drive unit manufacturing lines. This position requires collaboration with various teams, including Logistics, Manufacturing, and Facilities, to ensure that changes to layouts and building models are effectively managed and executed. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of redefining mobility through innovative engineering and sustainable practices. In this role, you will support the development of machine and department-level controls standards, assisting in the creation and deployment of controls architecture from concept to production. You will also be responsible for establishing data management and tracking communications networks, ensuring product, process, and quality traceability. Your expertise will be essential in creating detailed utility layouts for assembly lines and collaborating with facilities teams for implementation. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will participate in the initial conceptual development of equipment, balancing product specifications, process requirements, and cost considerations. You will also be tasked with setting up and validating the proper use of tools and user frames, identifying robot collision zones, and recreating experimental situations to validate robot performance. Your role will involve laying out industrial electrical control panels compliant with NFPA79/NEC/UL508A standards and writing and debugging robotic logic to ensure organized, maintainable, and reusable code. Additionally, you will implement safety systems compliant with ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA standards to safeguard high-volume manufacturing equipment. Your responsibilities will extend to managing external integrators, establishing test plans, and executing control tests during installation and buy-off phases. You will characterize and validate automated processes using data-driven statistical approaches and train maintenance and production teams to support automated equipment post-deployment. Debugging and optimizing automated processes to maximize efficiency and yield will also be key aspects of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Powertrain machine and department level controls standards and specification for application by internal equipment development team and external partners
  • Assist in creating through to full deployment to production factory and line level controls architecture
  • Support creating data management and tracking communications network architecture and interface with cross-functional teams for product, processes, and quality traceability control implementation
  • Assist in creating detailed utility layouts for entire assembly lines and interface with facilities teams for implementation
  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
  • Setup and validate proper use of Tool and User frames
  • Robot collision zones identification and improvement
  • Identify and recreate experimental situations to validate robot performance and recovery process
