About the position

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/Principal Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing and testing of marine propulsion and power generation systems. This role involves working on various manufacturing processes for high-value gearing and steam turbine assemblies, including precision manual assembly, welding, machining, bonding, finishing, and mechanical assembly. The position emphasizes developing new processes, improving existing ones, and ensuring safety and efficiency in the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop new manufacturing processes and improve existing ones.
• Create tooling and fixtures for manufacturing operations.
• Evaluate existing processes to reduce costs and improve sustainability.
• Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations.
• Manage bills of materials and create detailed work instructions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and implement new capital equipment.
• Provide technical support to test facility operations as necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree with 0 years of experience for Manufacturing Engineer.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience for Principal Manufacturing Engineer.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Exposure or specialization in mechanical assembly processes and welding.
• Experience in continuous improvement and technical writing.
• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
