The Manufacturing Engineer will provide essential Manufacturing Engineering capabilities to both operational and development programs, ensuring the delivery of zero defect projects through the application of engineering and problem-solving skills. This role is critical in developing robust and capable manufacturing process technologies that pertain to materials, tooling, part fabrication, and assembly. The engineer will exemplify a safety-first mindset, ensuring compliance with GKN Aerospace's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for developing technical solutions to complex problems encountered within GKN Aerospace, as well as with customers and suppliers. They will deliver technical support for manufacturing process development and integration for production, utilizing root cause analysis, preventative, and corrective actions to reduce or eliminate non-conformances. Maintaining positive relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers, is essential. Continuous improvement of production processes through the implementation of Lean initiatives will also be a key responsibility. The engineer will be accountable for the development of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems and will oversee the implementation of production planning from the original concept through to production. This includes designing processes to achieve a high level of process capability by utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for product development, first article development, configuration changes, and build process definition and implementation.
