About the position

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Baker Hughes, you will play a crucial role in the daily repair engineering of service shops, ensuring reliability and consistency on the production line. This position requires a comprehensive in-depth understanding of complex and highly technical concepts and principles related to rotary machinery, particularly gas turbines. You will be responsible for providing technical support and initiatives within the organization, contributing to the optimization of energy extraction, production, and processing. Your role will involve creating and issuing repair work orders in the Oracle system for inspection and repair of rotary machinery, identifying potential spare parts for repair items to enhance the spares procurement process, and preparing scopes of work and cost estimations, including inspection and completion reports for each job order. In addition, you will standardize inspection and repair routings and check forms, provide dispositions to Non-Conformance Reports (eNCR), and collaborate closely with the operations team to improve repair processes. You will manage plans to meet technical requirements and scheduled commitments, participate in technical contract reviews, and provide necessary data and input to the Com-ops team for contract bidding. A key aspect of your role will be driving continuous process improvement initiatives while supporting troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts. Responsibilities

  • Create and issue repair work orders in Oracle system for inspection and repair of rotary machinery including gas turbines.
  • Identify potential spares for repair items to advance the spares procurement process.
  • Prepare scope of work and costing estimation including inspection and completion reports for each job order.
  • Standardize inspection and repair routings and check forms.
  • Provide disposition to eNCR (Non-Conformance Report) and work closely with operations team to improve repair process.
  • Manage plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduled and contract commitments.
  • Participate in technical contract review and provide necessary data/input to Com-ops team to bid for contracts.
  • Drive continuous process improvement using initiatives and support process troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a repair engineering role with a focus on a service shop for rotary machinery.
  • Experience in servicing gas turbines preferred.
  • Significant knowledge or experience with special processes (welding, brazing, coating, etc.).
  • Ability to work flexible working hours.
  • Good computer and systems skills including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to relocate to Houston, TX with assistance if not currently located there.
