About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer - Soft Tooling position at Inteva Products is a critical role that focuses on the expertise in foam systems and tooling engineering. The individual in this role will serve as the Foam System Expert, responsible for overseeing the procurement of foam system equipment for the soft tooling group. This includes creating a comprehensive statement of requirements and collaborating with the purchasing department to source the necessary equipment. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, particularly in addressing foam system issues across all Inteva North America Manufacturing Plants. In addition to procurement responsibilities, the Manufacturing Engineer will manage the builds and deliveries of tools and equipment from suppliers, ensuring that these are completed within budget constraints. It is essential that the procured tools meet Inteva's specifications, and the engineer will coordinate the delivery and installation of these tools at various manufacturing facilities. Regular interaction with Inteva team members and customers is expected, fostering effective communication and collaboration. The role also involves providing cost estimates for new business pursuits, which requires a strong understanding of the market and the ability to analyze costs effectively. The Manufacturing Engineer must be adaptable, as travel is a significant component of the job, with expectations of up to 75% travel during launch activities and around 25% during non-launch periods. This position is integral to ensuring that Inteva maintains its commitment to quality and innovation in its manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Foam System Expert and Foam Tooling Engineer for Inteva.
  • Create statement of requirements for foam system equipment and collaborate with purchasing to source equipment.
  • Problem solve foam system issues at all Inteva North America Manufacturing Plants.
  • Manage tool/equipment builds and deliveries from suppliers at or below budget.
  • Ensure procured tools are built to Inteva specifications.
  • Coordinate delivery and installation of tools at manufacturing facilities.
  • Interface effectively with Inteva team members and customers on a regular basis.
  • Provide cost estimates for new business pursuits.

Requirements

  • Work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong degree of self-motivation and self-direction.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks under demanding situations.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Competent ability with computer software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Auto-Cad, vis-View, Unigraphics or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to travel often, with travel up to 75% during launch activities and 25% during non-launch activities.
  • Strong mechanical skills and desire for hands-on activities.
  • Good comprehension of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Good sketching and drawing abilities.
  • Ability to read 2D and 3D designs.
  • Must be able to speak and read English proficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, however, recent College Graduates willing to learn may be considered.
  • Familiar with instrument panels, consoles, and interior parts design, process, and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Basic understanding of Allen Bradley PLC programming.
  • Comprehension of basic GD&T.
  • Experience processing urethane foams, thermoforming TPO's and PVC's, die trimming, edge folding, and press lamination tooling.
