About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position at Stanley Access Technologies, part of Allegion, is a pivotal role responsible for providing engineering support to the manufacturing operations. This position is based in Farmington, CT, and involves close collaboration with manufacturing associates to help them meet or exceed daily production targets. The engineer will work alongside Value Stream leadership to execute projects that align with the future state vision of the company. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with Design Engineering and Product Management to support New Product Development and its implementation in manufacturing operations. A key aspect of this role is to identify, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements aimed at achieving targets related to Plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost. The Manufacturing Engineer will apply lean manufacturing principles, drive a Kaizen culture, and engage manufacturing associates in continuous improvement events. Responsibilities also include developing, tracking, and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for critical equipment, as well as identifying, justifying, and implementing capital equipment projects. The engineer will also be responsible for developing and maintaining process work instructions and product routings, and providing technical direction to the CNC programming department when necessary. The role is designed for individuals who can model, foster, and drive the values of Allegion, contributing to a culture of safety and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with manufacturing associates to help them meet or exceed daily production targets.
  • Collaborate with Value Stream leadership to execute projects supporting the future state vision.
  • Support New Product Development and implementation in Manufacturing Operations in collaboration with Design Engineering and Product Management.
  • Identify, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements to achieve Plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost targets.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and drive a Kaizen culture, engaging manufacturing associates in continuous improvement events.
  • Develop, track, and improve OEE for critical equipment.
  • Identify, justify, and implement capital equipment projects.
  • Develop and maintain process work instructions and product routings.
  • Provide technical direction to the CNC programming department as needed.
  • Model, foster, and drive the Allegion values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in a related engineering position.
  • Experience in applying Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools and Lean Sigma Methodology.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis.
  • Demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in a production environment working with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of cutting, machining, and other metal fabrication processes.
  • Project Management experience and understanding.
  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
