About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor has the primary responsibility of developing, defining, and implementing new technology and improvements to manufacturing processes. This position is crucial for reducing manufacturing costs, implementing new products into manufacturing, and proactively leading activities to drive improvements in manufacturing. An active, hands-on, high-energy approach will be necessary to be successful in this role. Additionally, this role serves as the primary contributor for developing future strategic manufacturing initiatives aimed at facilitating growth in the business. The Manufacturing Engineer Supervisor is responsible for improving existing machining processes to enhance Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. This position requires an active, hands-on leader who can troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of operational issues, particularly as they relate to group Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The supervisor will implement new technology as part of capital projects, ensuring that these projects are completed on-time, within budget, and meet the intent of the project plans. Evaluating manufacturing processes is a key responsibility, which involves applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. The supervisor will confer with vendors and solicit observations from plant operators to ensure optimal performance. Working within the operational team, the supervisor will support day-to-day problems and improvements, contributing significantly to New Product Development (NPD) activities by leading the manufacturing planning and execution of capital equipment, tooling, and processes. To improve manufacturing efficiency, the supervisor will analyze and plan workflows, space requirements, and equipment layouts. They will provide directional recommendations by evaluating production costs, reviewing scheduling practices, and estimating future requirements. Additionally, the supervisor will support departmental equipment by coordinating with maintenance and repair services, establishing preventative maintenance plans, and identifying critical spare parts. Direct efforts will be made to meet and/or exceed compliance with all regulatory bodies, organizations, and government requirements in the performance of position duties, with a strong emphasis on Safety and Quality as top priorities in all endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for improving existing machining processes to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required in an engineering-related field.
  • Two plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving high speed machining, automation, welding, and assembly.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers, and outside professionals.
  • Working knowledge of drafting and modeling software such as AutoCAD and / or Solidworks.
  • Experience working with capital project scope development and justification preferred.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, automation, and robotic applications preferred.
  • Knowledge dealing with complex manufacturing situations, hardware specifications, quality standards, product development, CAD / CAM, and technical specifications.
