About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer - Weld Process Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining welding processes and procedures for production. This role also oversees the enterprise's welding certification program, ensuring compliance and efficiency across multiple factory locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the welding certification program across multiple factory locations.
  • Provide innovative weld solutions to solve engineering challenges in production, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Integrate new weld equipment and modify existing equipment to enhance production capabilities and efficiency.
  • Lead and coordinate medium to large-scale projects, managing project budgets and expenses while implementing new technologies.
  • Identify and engage with contractors and suppliers to implement new technologies and cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate and optimize welding processes for new and existing products to achieve optimal cost and quality standards.
  • Review customer requested procedures and welding specifications.
  • Conduct weld failure reviews and determine corrective action to reduce failure rate.
  • Develop cost-saving ideas and lead projects aimed at reducing operational expenses.
  • Support continuous improvement projects across all weld production areas.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling development, and preventative maintenance planning.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting manual/robotic welding applications.
  • Experience in capital project justification and executing strategic and tactical projects.
  • Self-motivated and able to execute with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Code and International welding codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of GMAW, SAW and FCAW welding processes for manual, semi-automatic and robotic welding on ferrous, aluminum and stainless steel.
  • Knowledge of UT, MT, and PT non-destructive inspection methods to assist in administering internal program.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, multitask accurately, and execute successfully.
  • Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written, with demonstrated ability to interact, direct, clarify train and develop various levels of staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in influencing others to obtain results, teamwork and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in International welding standards (beneficial but not required).
