About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position at Garmin International in Miramar, FL, is a full-time role focused on ensuring the efficiency and safety of production lines. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and operating manufacturing systems while keeping production costs down and ensuring product quality. This role requires collaboration with team members and effective communication to achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research
  • Maintains, develops and operates processes
  • Responsible for keeping production costs down while maintaining quality of product or service
  • Ensures product and process quality by designing testing methods
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge/insights to manufacturing projects
  • Demonstrates manufacturing line balancing and support to the factory
  • Develops process instructions
  • Demonstrates understanding of Lean Philosophy
  • Creates routings
  • Identifies/resolves defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques
  • Communicates status of work clearly by providing visibility, thoroughly documents work in an organized manner, works collaboratively/professionally in a team environment, and shares information and ideas freely with other associates to achieve goals
  • Remains current on new technologies utilized in the manufacturing processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering related discipline in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering discipline OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to learn knowledge
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability for using industry standards and procedures to develop, implement, and document operational processes
  • Ability to use engineering tools
  • Must demonstrate the capability to perform basic troubleshooting and debugging

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous work or internship experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Manufacturing Engineer
