Our client in the vacuum tank truck industry is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their expanding team. This position is crucial for driving continuous improvement in various operational areas, including cost, quality, safety, lead time, and the effective use of working capital. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems that enhance these areas, ensuring that the manufacturing processes are efficient and effective. The role involves evaluating tools and equipment options to reduce operational costs and justifying capital expenditures to improve manufacturing and assembly operations. A significant part of the job will include designing fixturing and tooling using SolidWorks, which is essential for the production process. The Manufacturing Engineer will also implement lean manufacturing principles, such as visual controls, pull inventory systems, and workplace organization, to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. In addition to these responsibilities, the Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support for production operations, which includes troubleshooting tooling, fixturing, and processes using existing systems and procedures. Monitoring and correcting safety and ergonomic issues will also be a key part of the role. The engineer will develop and organize lean events across multiple manufacturing and assembly facilities, work with associates on 5S programs, and assist with environmental health and safety (EH&S) initiatives. The position requires participation in the verification, review, and implementation of torque specifications and high-risk part specifications, as well as assisting in work cell load balancing and the Product Development Process (PDP). The Manufacturing Engineer will also assist with plant layouts and perform other duties as assigned, making this a dynamic and multifaceted role.
