About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Actalent is responsible for overseeing programs related to power distribution boxes (PDBs). This role focuses on creating and implementing new processes for products, as well as driving continuous improvement projects for existing processes. The position involves a mix of floor work and desk work, with a greater emphasis on floor activities during new process launches, ensuring efficient assembly and quality in automotive electrical/electronic assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Determine methods of assembly for both simple and complex automotive electrical/electronic assemblies including testing and inspection operations.
  • Work with internal and external equipment manufacturers to specify and commission manufacturing equipment.
  • Determine plant layout for new equipment and ensure all utilities are available for the equipment.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Manufacturing departments to identify root causes for non-conforming products and develop countermeasures.
  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement opportunities in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, and Packaging Plans for assigned projects.
  • Participate and lead in the development of standardized work, job instructions, and operator aids.
  • Work with the tool shop to design and build fixtures and assembly aids.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer creating and implementing assembly processes.
  • Continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience working in an assembly environment, either single station or automated.
  • Experience creating standardized work for assembly processes, including SOPs and work instructions.
  • Automotive experience, with knowledge in molding, plastic injection molding, electrical assembly, and electrical assembly processes.
