About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer will support the Harness Work Center for the Tactical Space Systems Division, focusing on the assembly of spacecraft hardware. This role involves authoring production plans, participating in design reviews, evaluating non-conforming products, and optimizing manufacturing processes. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and support technicians on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

  • Author and maintain production plans that detail the assembly of spacecraft hardware.
  • Participate in design peer reviews to ensure designs are manufacturable and engineering documentation aligns with strict processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate non-conforming products and develop rework procedures to return fit/form/function to flight hardware.
  • Partner with cross-functional groups to conduct root cause and corrective action investigations.
  • Optimize operational workflow by developing manufacturing processes and introducing new tools and techniques for harness fabrication.
  • Respond to changing design requirements at all stages of the build process by revising production plans and returning product to the intended flight configuration.
  • Design and construct full-scale mock-ups resembling spacecraft structures to aid in the manufacturing of exact-fit harnessing.
  • Provide direct support to Technicians on the manufacturing floor in a rapid-pace environment.
  • Act as manufacturing lead on assigned programs to ensure roadblocks are quickly alleviated while maintaining budget and schedule.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with industry and internal standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or other related STEM area.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area.
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes involving soldering, use of adhesives, testing, and harness assembly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience with cable and harnessing.
  • Experience with power tools and construction.
  • Experience with Costpoint, SAP, MES, Solumina, TIPQA, Windchill.
  • Experience working in an ISO or AS9100 environment.
