About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Actalent is responsible for reviewing requests for quotes (RFQs), preparing detailed estimates, and maintaining customer relationships to maximize sales potential. This role involves process engineering functions, including the preparation of necessary information for job execution, participation in continuous improvement initiatives, and the development of cost-effective manufacturing methods. The engineer will also handle order entry, material calculations, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review RFQs and prepare detailed estimate sheets.
  • Maintain and develop inside sales relationships with customers.
  • Prepare all necessary information required to run any job including master files, blueprints, and specifying material.
  • Use Lean manufacturing techniques to improve processes.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Revise methods based on new equipment and process changes.
  • Recommend improvements for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
  • Create work orders and develop accurate lead time and shipping schedules.
  • Handle order entry and maintenance of customer record files.
  • Calculate materials for new orders and review material certifications.

Requirements

  • Experience with machining, including lathe and mills.
  • Knowledge of CNC machines.
  • Experience with SolidWorks.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of the manufacturing process and engineering.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with purchasing.
