About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer at Garmin is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of production lines in the Miramar, FL location. This role involves maintaining, developing, and operating manufacturing systems while focusing on quality and cost-effectiveness. The engineer will evaluate manufacturing processes, design testing methods, and prepare reports to support continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research
  • Maintains, develops and operates processes
  • Responsible for keeping production costs down while maintaining quality of product or service
  • Ensures product and process quality by designing testing methods
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge/insights to manufacturing projects
  • Demonstrates manufacturing line balancing and support to the factory
  • Develops process instructions
  • Demonstrates understanding of Lean Philosophy
  • Creates routings
  • Identifies/resolves defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques
  • Communicates status of work clearly by providing visibility and thorough documentation
  • Remains current on new technologies utilized in the manufacturing processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering related discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability for applying industry standards and procedures to develop, implement, and document operational processes
  • Ability to use and apply engineering tools
  • Capability to perform basic troubleshooting and debugging

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous work or internship experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Manufacturing Engineer
