The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and development of tools, fixtures, and processes that support both existing products and new product development initiatives. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the creation of forming die sets, welding fixtures, and robotic welding/material handling cells. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineer will be involved in optimizing plant layouts and material flow, as well as developing comprehensive equipment manuals to ensure efficient operations. To succeed in this role, the Manufacturing Engineer must possess a strong educational background, ideally holding a Bachelor's degree in a related technical field such as Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering. The position is suitable for candidates with 0-5 years of engineering experience, particularly those with professional experience in manufacturing engineering within a metalworking and fabricating environment. Familiarity with robotic systems, metal fabrication, and arc welding is highly desirable, as is the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Hands-on experience with tooling and fixturing methodologies is preferred, along with proficiency in 3D modeling, specifically using PTC Creo III. Candidates should also have experience in the procurement of manufacturing systems and equipment, as well as production experience to effectively contribute to the team. The role requires frequent sitting and extended periods of computer work, along with the willingness to travel as needed. The Manufacturing Engineer will also lead the physical assembly of their own mechanical machine designs, making necessary adjustments to ensure functionality. The work environment includes both an office setting and a shop floor, where the engineer will be exposed to industrial machinery and various metalworking processes such as welding, machining, forming, and surface treatment. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and training will be provided to ensure safety in these environments.
