About the position

At Legrand, we are excited to offer an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing processes that are essential for meeting the operational needs for both existing and new products. Your primary focus will be to ensure that our production lines operate efficiently and effectively, ultimately satisfying our customers' demands. You will play a crucial role in supporting organizational goals related to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost management. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. You will work closely with equipment vendors to ensure that the processes you design are effective and efficient. Additionally, you will improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Quality assurance will be a key aspect of your role, as you will design testing methods, test finished products, and establish standards to confirm manufacturing processes. Your responsibilities will also include evaluating manufacturing processes through research programs, applying your knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. You will prepare process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations as necessary to meet business needs. Furthermore, you will maintain the product and company reputation by ensuring compliance with government regulations and developing effective automated and manual systems. Resolving issues and delays in production will be part of your daily tasks, and you will keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following established procedures, and managing special service requests. Your contributions will be vital to the team effort, as you will work collaboratively to accomplish related results as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Prepare process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations as necessary to meet business needs.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
  • Resolve issues and delays in production.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services and following established procedures.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • B.S degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent)
  • 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. CAD, MS Office)
  • Project management skills
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and concepts
  • Teamwork skills
