About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer at TSC's Defense & Space Systems Division in Huntsville, AL, is responsible for optimizing production processes and integrating new technologies to enhance efficiency and quality in manufacturing high-performance electronics. This role involves collaboration with various teams to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure seamless production flow, requiring strong analytical skills, leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, configure, and manage the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to optimize production flow, data collection, and real-time visibility.
  • Integrate and utilize Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems to manage product data, revisions, and change orders effectively.
  • Utilize Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems to efficiently detect and eliminate defects during the manufacturing process.
  • Develop and optimize Surface Mount Technology (SMT) programs for precise component placement and high-quality assembly.
  • Assist in leading and adhering to safety, quality, cost, schedule, technical and programmatic requirements, and performance expectations.
  • Conduct process audits and ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (e.g., IPC, AS9100).
  • Accomplish results by utilizing a multi-functional team, including Technicians, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Test Engineering, MRP/Parts Production Control, and Finance to meet program needs.
  • Lead and provide shop floor support, developing manufacturing plans, tooling requirements, engineering change implementation, and coordinating changes in the build process within an electrical/mechanical manufacturing facility, while mentoring and training junior engineers and technicians.
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into work instructions that will produce high-quality hardware.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques on both new and existing products to produce optimal design and manufacturing solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering equivalent field from an ABET accredited school is required and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience (master's degree with minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or High School diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience).
  • US Citizenship due to Operations Security (OPSEC) Requirements; ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Experience should include military/DoD manufacturing experience, mechanical assemblies and/or circuit card assemblies and integration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with configuration control, material traceability process and tools, expertise in SMT programming and AOI technology.
  • Familiar with IPC, J-STD, MIL and DOD Standards, in-depth knowledge, and experience with AS9100 standards and certification processes.
  • Experience in development and implementation of a new maintenance programs and creating training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the setup, integration, and operation of MES and PLM systems.
  • Strong understanding of Deltek Costpoint systems.
  • Experience with development programs and transition to production.
  • Experience in audit standards, procedures, and techniques.
