About the position

As a member of the manufacturing engineering team at Teledyne Technologies, you will engage in complex projects that involve designing, programming, simulating, and testing automated machinery and processes. Your role will encompass constructing equipment and fixtures, as well as analyzing production processes to determine the optimal use of automation. Regular maintenance of automation equipment will be a key responsibility, which includes troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration. You will be expected to have experience with Automated Electromechanical and Mechatronic equipment in a manufacturing environment, particularly with state-of-the-art automation technologies, including robotics, pneumatics, servos, and PLCs. In this position, you will be tasked with developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation related to automation equipment and processes. You will assist in the procurement and installation of equipment, and you will work closely with production and engineering teams to communicate and facilitate recommendations and design changes as necessary. Your responsibilities will also include designing fixtures and tooling, evaluating processes for increased throughput, and troubleshooting issues related to products and processes. You will be expected to perform special assignments as requested, determine problem resolutions, and implement improvements. Evaluating manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for enhancement will be a critical part of your role. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems, ensuring that manufacturing processes and equipment meet capability and capacity requirements, and researching and developing new processes, equipment, and new product introductions (NPI). Compliance with safety standards in manufacturing processes and equipment will also be a priority. Participation in cross-functional meetings to ensure collaboration across teams is essential.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on practical experience supporting and designing automated systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on practical experience in a production and/or assembly environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in programming and software development.
  • Strong equipment troubleshooting skills for debugging existing systems.
  • Effective communication skills to explain complex ideas to stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong written communication skills for record keeping and documentation.
  • Problem-solving and creative thinking abilities to troubleshoot and find effective solutions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to keep up with the latest techniques and technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Desired knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • Familiarity with Risk Assessment techniques.
  • Understanding of Design of Experiments.
