About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer position at Johnson Controls in Wichita, Kansas, focuses on directing, planning, coordinating, and implementing processes for HVAC manufacturing. The engineer will engage in various projects, utilizing problem-solving methods and Lean Manufacturing techniques to optimize operations and support new product introductions.

Responsibilities

• Direct, plan, coordinate, and implement processes for HVAC manufacturing.
• Lead or participate in process improvement teams to enhance plant capacity and product quality.
• Document engineering changes and modifications.
• Resolve and prevent production issues and equipment troubleshooting.
• Optimize and standardize testing processes throughout the plant.
• Assist with the introduction of new products in Operations.
• Support and implement Lean Manufacturing techniques.
• Perform data analysis to assess process capability and implement improvements.

Requirements

• University degree and one year of experience, or a two-year degree and six years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Project management experience.
• Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including Microsoft Office software.
• Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and ergonomic principles.
• Experience in equipment justification, specification, installation, and fabrication processes, with a focus on automation and robotics.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Autodesk 2D or equivalent CAD software.
• Electronics or Controls experience.
• Continuous Improvement experience.
